Wood Stone is a refinement of the original Dutch inception of Cellulose Masonry Composite (patented in 1937) and developed in different forms throughout the 21st Century. Essentially it combines cement (and/or geopolymers) with wood (nominally waste eg sawdust). 

I (the founder of Natural Brick Co. and consequently Aurasphere) initially used it for sustainable building incorporating fire resistance bushfire areas and made it a builder friendly product that passed 24/240/240 fire rating in Australia but it also only gained 43c on the internal wall. It was the the next step up from Hempcrete but unfortunately, due to various circumstances was relegated to an aesthetic role with a green "sticker" so I left Natural Brick and took a break.

HOWEVER

When the acoustics tests were being done...a miraculous STC of 51 for basic building blocks was discovered and that is quite incredible; so instead of playing the in the mud making bricks, I embarked on combining this material as the basis of unique, innovative speaker design and manufacture, then additionally migrating it to include hybrid and heard of QRD/Helmholtz/Absorptive designs

Wood Stone looks naturally like sandstone, can be screwed into and depending on the formula, biased toward greater acoustic performance

• Absorbs incredible energy into the matrix. One of the earlier incarnations could stop a 50 caliber bullet in a 200mm thick block

• Because of this, the intrinsic resonance of an enclosure is absorbed

• Uniting this with geometric freedom...the possibilities are wild

• After development, many variations of texturing were developed, further providing devices for velocity and pressure control

• The weight is about 0.6 of concrete so its much more wieldy and tensile (not brittle like concrete)
